February Monthly Program: The Ugly Truth of Fast Fashion

Please join us for Green Bellevue's February Program on "The Ugly Truth of Fast Fashion". The term “fast fashion” refers to an approach to clothing design, creation, and marketing that emphasizes getting the newest trends from catwalks to consumers as quickly – and cheaply – as possible. But the environmental toll is high. Inspired by Omaha Fashion Week, our February event is about fast fashion and the impact it has on water consumption and global climate change.

Our presenter for this event is Melisa Spilinek, a Doctoral Student in the Department of Textiles, Merchandising & Fashion Design at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln. She received her Bachelors (in fashion design and merchandising), and continued with her Masters from UNL in Merchandising and was a student designer in Omaha Fashion Week for three years. Melisa is a Graduate Research Assistant for UNL's Office of Sustainability and UNL's Chancellors Environment Sustainability & Resiliency Commission.
