Become a Friend of Mandan Park

We are a group of friends and neighbors who have been working for several years to make Mandan Park safer for families, hikers, dog walkers, bike riders, and anyone else interested in enjoying Mandan’s scenic beauty. With this goal in mind, we have spent hours cleaning up the park, removing hundreds of tires, furniture, bottles of oil, glass and many other items. We have also patrolled the park, increased police involvement in it by attending OCCP meetings, and contacted city officials about various problems we have noted in the park.

Mandan Park is not just a recreation area. It is also the home of many, many bird, insect and animal species, including the critically endangered Northern Long Eared Bat. By cleaning the park and making it safe for people, we believe we are also making it safer for creatures. The more people there are in the park actually enjoying it, the less opportunity there is for those who wish to conduct nefarious activities there and/or harm the wildlife. Volunteers interested in caring for it can only make it better.

Our challenge has been taking back the park. Join the challenge by attending a cleanup event and following the instructions below. Check our Facebook page for maps and event details: https://www.facebook.com/KOB-Friends-of-Mandan-Park-and-Mount-Vernon-Gardens-102014391903155
